Texas
Texas is the second-largest U.S. state by both area and population. Texas is situated on the Gulf of Mexico, and is bordered by Mexico to the south, New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, and Louisiana to the east. This state boasts a variety of terrain that ranges from coastal swamps and piney woods to rolling plains and rugged hills, and finally the desert and mountains of the Big Bend. Houston is the largest city in Texas and is home to Space Centre Houston. San Antonio is the 2nd largest city in the state in which The Alamo can be found. One popular retreat is Galveston Island, a barrier island on Texas's coast famous for its 19th century architecture its 32 miles of soft, sandy beaches. Other major cities include Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso and Austin, the state capital.
