Wells Gray Tours is celebrating our 50th Anniversary in 2022 and we recently announced five years of special anniversary events to mark this exciting milestone. We are thrilled to share the second of these special Anniversary Tours with you – a cruise on Portugal’s Duoro River aboard the elegant Emerald Radiance. This special tour will depart 51 years to the day from the first Wells Gray tour in 1972. This is a brand new tour for us and your hosts for this spectacular journey will be Wells Gray Tours Owner and Founder, Roland Neave, and his wife Anne.

The Douro weaves through one of Europe’s most striking natural regions. The enchanting countryside has terraced vineyards, historic landmarks dating back 1,500 years, superb wineries at every stop, and delightful walkable towns.
The tour begins with four nights in Lisbon, the cosmopolitan capital of Portugal, then travels up the coast to Porto at the mouth of the Douro River where we board the Emerald Radiance for a 7-day cruise. Once on board we’ll enjoy wonderful experiences including the charming baroque village of Lamego and Spain’s walled city of Salamanca. As one of the continent’s foremost and best-loved wine-producing regions, the Douro Valley provides plentiful opportunities to sample delightful vintages along the way.

The magnificent Emerald Radiance was custom-built in 2017 to navigate the waters of the Douro Valley and make the most of the delightful Portuguese climate.
