Mamma Mia! is one fun toe tapping musical everyone should see!
ABBA’s song, “The Winner Takes It All” was the catalyst for Producer, Judy Cramer who, after hearing it began to conceive the idea of Mamma Mia! as a musical theatre production. Cramer commissioned Catherine Johnson to write the script in 1997 and the musical opened in London’s West End in April of 1999. The play was an instant success.
I found it interesting and it is a feather in Canada’s cap that Toronto was the first city to produce the show after London, hosting the North American premier performance of Mamma Mia! in May 2000 before it opened on Broadway in 2001.
Mamma Mia! has been played in more than 40 countries in all 6 continents and has set the record for premiering in more cities faster than any other musical in history.
I have seen the theatre production of Mamma Mia! twice and the movie once and would not hesitate to go again. I have always enjoyed listening to ABBA’s music and who doesn’t love a good love story?
While Mamma Mia! is sure to be a highlight of our four-day tour to Seattle, you will enjoy another equally entertaining evening performance of a hilarious murder mystery musical, Murder for Two. Two actors, four hands, 13 characters, one piano, 90 minutes, two murders, and one killer make this play a must see!
A two-hour cruise along the Seattle waterfront with specular views of downtown Seattle will passing though the Chittenden Locks as your ship is lifted into Lake Union. The locks are celebrating their centennial in 2017 making this the perfect year to take scenic voyage.
