Clue #5:
Thirty-two USA states and 10 countries have this place name. In Canada, it is found only in Ontario. Hint: The answer is not “Springfield”.
Solution:
Salem, Oregon.
About 20 people on the tour guessed this correctly. The two names drawn were Doris Sharp and Lorraine Semrick who each won a $20 Travel Voucher towards any Wells Gray tour.
This morning, the tour drove into Salem which is about 15 miles from the Oregon Garden Resort. They stopped at Willamette Heritage Center and guides talked about the period up to 1962 when these brick buildings were a huge woolen mill.
Next was Mount Angel with a German style lunch at the Glockenspiel Restaurant. The owner, Mary Grant, played the elaborate glockenspiel for everyone! Mount Angel Monastery was next, located on a hilltop with a great view of Mount Hood. A monk showed us around and he has lived there for 27 years. The group then continued to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and saw the tulips in full bloom and the fields full of colour. Back at the resort, the last group of 10 had their massage appointments and emerged relaxed and pleased. Wells Gray Tours hosted a happy hour in the resort lounge to cap off another great day on the Mystery Tour.
