Our Mystery History
In October 2013, Wells Gray Tours offered the 50th Mystery Tour since the first one in 1985. The group travelled to Costa Rica and spent eight days enjoying its natural wonders. They took small boats through the jungle to a lodge on Tortuguero Beach; watched new-born turtles scampering across the sand to the ocean; stayed in a luxury hotel at the foot of the Arenal Volcano; rode on a cablecar, a lake cruiser, and 4×4 mini-buses; walked in a cloud forest; and wined and dined at an all-inclusive resort on the Pacific Coast. The first Mystery Tour was only three days and travelled to Whistler. In the 29 years since then, Mystery Tours have taken curious customers to destinations all over Canada, the USA and even overseas. Some go to a single destination and explore that area (such as New Orleans in 2007 or Boston in 2008). Some fly to an exotic destination such as Iceland in 2009. Some stay close to home; the October 2011 group enjoyed a cruise in the San Juan Islands and stayed at Long Beach, WA.
Whether you have travelled with us before or are travelling with us for the first time, you can rest assured that while the trip is a mystery to you it is not a mystery to the tour planner. Our team has researched every aspect of the tour and the same planning and attention to detail goes into each aspect of this tour as it would with one of our regular tours. You may not know where you are going to sleep each night but you will know you are in good hands with Wells Gray Tours.
Of course we do provide clues that are clever and fun and if you get them right you will know where the tour is going. But hush, don’t tell your fellow passengers, let them figure it out themselves or travel uninformed into the unknown.
