Sun, Fun, and Loved Ones: Staff Summer Stories

Our staff have been making the most of the long summer days, creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. From sun-soaked beach outings, thrilling hiking expeditions and spontaneous road trips, each adventure is a testament to the joy of togetherness and the spirit of summer. Whether it’s splashing in the waves, exploring new trails, or simply enjoying the warm, golden sunsets, our staff are embracing every moment, making this summer one for the books!

Trying to find 1 picture to encapsulate summer is a hard feat! When my son was born my dad said, “Cherish the summers, you only get 18 with them if you’re lucky” and I have made sure every summer has some core memory building for all of us. This year we made our annual camping trip out to Mabel Lake Resort for one week (where this photo was taken) and enjoyed the first heat wave of the summer, a great way to kick it off in my opinion. Then no sooner were we home, my daughter and I took off to Vancouver for a few nights for our annual Mommy-Daughter trip. We saw Frozen on Broadway at the Queen Elizabeth which was just incredible! We also made sure to visit at least 3 different ice cream shops, rode the False Creek ferry, visited 7 different playgrounds and visited the Greater Vancouver Zoo (hot tip – if you have an annual membership to Kamloops’ BC Wildlife Park, you get free admission to Vancouver Zoo). Next on the Summer To Remember list, we embark on the annual “Dilling’s Epic Road Trip” and this year we are doing a circle route visiting Crazy Creek Hot Springs, Kootenay National Park, Glacier National Park in Montana, then back up through BC to Trail, and Gallagher Lake before making our way back home. Having that extra bit of time on Friday afternoons in the summer does not go to waste, thank you Roland & Fraser! Happy Summer!

There’s something really special about spending time with lifelong friends. It’s like you can pick up right where you left off, no matter how long it’s been. Clytie Bay, Ontario July 2024.

This summer has been full of outdoor activities and fun!
I biked the sea wall in Vancouver on a tandem bike, hiked new and familiar trails in Kelowna, paddle boarding and boating in Kalamalka lake, but I spend most of my free time dragon boating all over BC.
Thanks, Roland for making all our summer weekends long weekends❣️

I’ve only had time for a couple extracurricular activities so far this summer as I’ve been working so much, so the biggest and most exciting thing I’ve done this summer is the Gaspe Peninsula & New Brunswick Coast FAM trip! I saw some incredible locations, learned about the east coast of Canada, and got to meet so many of our wonderful clients!

Madi

While camping and mountain biking at Whistler with friends, we decided to go down the River of Golden Dreams on our paddle boards. What a beautiful day for it!

Marion

A photo of me and my friends on our first bike packing trip of the season! I’m in the middle. We biked to Salt Spring Island and back on this trip. I just recently did another trip into Cowichan Valley, and excited for more trips to come.

Rachel

We did a family trip to Disneyland. A great way to celebrate my upcoming 60th birthday.

Lisa

Most of the fun this summer will be in the coming month, with family and friends arriving, but it’s always fun spending time dog sitting Yuuka, my son’s dog.

Shelley

I’ve been enjoying summer by spending it on the water with my dragon boat team. It’s such an excellent way to wind down, enjoy great camaraderie, and get exercise at the same time. Photo taken at Swan Lake at Vernon’s Dragonboat Festival.

Lynne

We are laying pretty low this summer, recharging our batteries after a very busy spring. We have been spending our free time at the lake, mountain biking and having many BBQs with friends and family.

Pam

I had a busy June training for the Across the Lake Swim! Held every July, a 2.1 km swim from the Westside to City Park. My wonderful friend Marcia was my guide this year on her her paddle board.

Kerrie

This July our son James and his beautiful bride Vicky got married in Kelowna! We are overjoyed to welcome Vicky into our family and wish them both countless years filled with love and happiness.

Joan

Fishing is one of my sons favorite things to do, so I bring him whenever I can. When my husband is home we do it as a family as well. My son schools us all with how many fish he catches compared to the rest of us!

Dominique

Hiking with the Kamloops Outdoor Club on Trophy Mountain in Wells Gray Park. I love the week when flowers are blooming.
