TOUR SUMMARY

An in-depth tour of Canada’s easternmost province

Wild and wonderful Newfoundland is a popular destination for Wells Gray customers with 2 or 3 departures every year. The culture and heritage of Newfoundland runs deep. Highlights include visits to historic sites and stunning landscapes, 2 national parks, a puffin and whale watching cruise, an iceberg viewing cruise, 5 entertaining shows, and talks by local experts. In Gros Morne National Park, thrill to the boat trip on the fjord of Western Brook Pond. Get Screeched-In and kiss the cod during a cruise at Bonne Bay. Explore recreated sod houses at the ancient Viking settlement of L’Anse aux Meadows. Look out over the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Spear, North America’s easternmost point. This is the second departure for 2026. The May 31 tour sold out very quickly. Such is the popularity and intrigue of this unique province. So much to see in 15 days!

ACTIVITY LEVEL

Level

High Activity: You are an active traveller who wants to explore wherever you go. You don’t mind a mix of full days, early morning starts, and some late nights. The walk to the boat dock for the Western Brook Pond cruise is 45 minutes or 2.7 km each way along a wide and mostly level trail. Other walks could be up to 2 km over uneven surfaces, stairs, beaches, and some trails. Most hotels on this tour do not have elevators, so your room may be reached by a stairway. You can climb three flights of stairs easily and unassisted and can handle your own luggage in airports or at hotels where luggage handling may not be available.

This tour is not appropriate for people with canes, walkers, wheelchairs, or other mobility assistance devices. Walking poles are recommended. Additionally, this tour is not appropriate for those who have cognitive impairments such as memory loss or confusion, difficulty expressing thoughts, repeating questions, or getting lost. The tour director and driver have many responsibilities, so please do not expect them, or your fellow travellers, to provide ongoing assistance. If you are not capable of keeping up with the group or require frequent assistance, the tour director may stop you from participating in some activities or some days of the tour. In extreme situations, you may be required to leave the tour and travel home at your own expense; travel insurance will probably not cover you.

Please read the Activity Level 3 declaration attached to this brochure. By paying the tour deposit, you agree that you are capable of travelling on an Activity Level 3 tour.

Group Size 30

TOUR NOTES & POLICIES

  • Note: This in-depth tour is devoted to the Island of Newfoundland. Labrador is part of the Province of Newfoundland, but is not included due to the additional time required.

  • Accommodation: Expect some hotels to have 3-star ratings (not luxurious). Your 3-night stay in St. John’s at the Delta Hotel is the best accommodation. Some communities only have one place to stay. Finding available and suitable hotels has dictated this itinerary.

  • Flight seating: We are unable to take requests for window or aisle seating on the planes. The airline will not accept them, as group seating is assigned as a block. If this is important to you, we suggest you take the “No Flight” option with a fare reduction of $1040 and book your own flights which allows seat selection.

  • Flight upgrades: Please enquire about current prices for upgrades on the flights to and from Newfoundland. Premium economy or business class may be available.

  • Food Allergies: You must notify us no later than at final payment if you have a food allergy. This tour goes to some remote places in Newfoundland where restaurants may not be able to satisfy all food allergies. An allergy causes medical distress, a preference does not. For some allergies, please consider bringing your own snacks or food items so you are not dependent on what restaurants are able to serve.

  • Show cancellation: It rarely happens, but performers or singers occasionally get sick, or some mishap causes the cancellation of a show such as one of the five evening shows in Newfoundland. This can occur even shortly before the performance begins. We know that this would be disappointing for our customers, but the only refund we could obtain for you would be the actual ticket price of the show. The hotel, motorcoach, and other tour services are all prepaid and are non-refundable at short notice.

  • Payments: A deposit of $700 per person is requested at the time of booking and balance is due April 8, 2026. By paying the deposit, you agree to the Terms & Conditions, Activity Level 3 Declaration, and Cancellation Policy outlined. Payments can be made by online banking or cheque (3% discount on tour fare), or by Visa or Mastercard.

  • Cancellation Policy: Up to March 6, 2026, the cancellation charge is $100 per person. From March 7 to April 8, the cancellation charge is $400 per person. From April 9 to May 8, the cancellation charge is 40% of the tour fare. From May 9 to June 8, the cancellation charge is 80% of tour fare. After June 8, there is no refund.

  • Itinerary and Fare Changes: Our many suppliers may notify us about changes to the itinerary prior to departure and sometimes during the tour. We do our best to substitute a similar service if something cancels, but occasionally the only alternative is to provide a refund for the missed activity. Please note that if we are forced to cancel a tour component due to an issue beyond our control, the current penalties still apply if you choose to cancel the entire tour. Fuel surcharges and changes to taxes or other tour costs can occur at any time, therefore Wells Gray Tours reserves the right to increase fares due to such changes up to departure.

  • Flight delays or cancellations: In the event flights are delayed or cancelled by airlines due to weather or other reasons, there may be additional costs to you. Wells Gray Tours will not pay for hotel rooms and meals during the delay. Most travel insurance policies cover expenses incurred for flight delays.

  • Travel Insurance: Comprehensive Insurance policy is available through Wells Gray Tours and coverage is provided by Travel Guard. Policies purchased at deposit include a waiver of the pre-existing condition clause for medical and cancellation claims, otherwise policies can be purchased no later than at final payment. This tour stays in Canada, but medical costs can vary wildly from one province to another. While your BC Services Card may partly cover you for a medical issue that arises during the tour, you will probably benefit from trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage in case of illness or a mishap before or during the tour. Many other benefits such as luggage insurance are included. Medical questionnaire is not needed. Please contact us for details. If you have your own travel insurance, please read the policy carefully to be sure that you are adequately covered for medical, cancellation, interruption, and luggage.

  • Experience Points or E-points: This tour earns 198 e-points. Each time you travel on a Wells Gray tour, you earn e-points that are added to your account after the tour returns. One e-point equals $1. Redeem your earned points on select tours or accumulate enough points to earn a free tour! Redemptions offered until April 8, 2026.
