Explore Atlantic Canada on board the deluxe yacht Scenic Eclipse

Cruising on a yacht like the Scenic Eclipse is a very different experience than being on a large cruise ship. It is compact, intimate, and luxurious, featuring superb service in your suite (not a stateroom), in the 10 dining rooms or lounges, and all around the yacht. Maybe you have travelled in one of the finest suites on a big ship and became accustomed to service at your beck and call, and that’s what you can expect on the Eclipse. Shore excursions, beverages, specialty restaurants, gratuities are all included, in fact almost everything except spa sessions and rides in the yacht’s helicopter and submarine. The ship was built to Scenic’s high standards in 2019. It is only 168 metres long with about 200 passengers and a crew of 176 (almost a 1 to 1 ratio). Eclipse is often described as an “Ultra Luxury Yacht”.

We fly to Boston and board the Eclipse in Portland, Maine. Nine ports are included and some of the unusual stops are Campobello Island in the Bay of Fundy, the Magdalen Islands, and Percé. Only small cruise ships can go up the St. Lawrence River as far as Montréal. Join Roland and Anne Neave, owners of Wells Gray Tours, and revel in a compelling experience on the high seas.

ACTIVITY LEVEL

Level

Level

Moderate activity: As a traveller you like a variety of activities and walking up to 2 km with breaks such as a guided walking tour is very doable for you without assistance. You can stand for prolonged periods, negotiate a variety of terrain from cobblestone streets to moderate hills comfortably, and can climb two flights of stairs without assistance. At airports and cruise terminals, you must handle your own luggage and often walk long distances. You may need to handle your own luggage at a hotel if luggage service is not available. It is not far from any suite to the yacht’s dining rooms or lounges. The vessel has two elevators. Choose shore excursions based on your mobility.

You may bring a cane or walking poles if needed. The coaches cannot carry a scooter or motorized wheelchair. The tour director and drivers have many responsibilities, so please do not expect them, or your fellow travellers, to provide ongoing assistance. If you are not capable of keeping up with the group or require frequent assistance, the tour director may stop you from participating in some activities or some days of the tour. In extreme situations, you may be required to leave the tour and travel home at your own expense; travel insurance will probably not cover you.

TOUR NOTES & POLICIES

  • Scenic Eclipse: Cruising on the Scenic Eclipse is a very different experience than being on a large cruise ship. It is compact, intimate, and luxurious, featuring superb service in your suite, in the dining rooms, and all around this Ultra Luxury Yacht. Service at your beck and call is what you can expect on the Eclipse. There are seven restaurants and lounges on Eclipse, all complimentary. Shore excursions are included. There might be some specialized excursions announced later with an additional cost. The shore excursions mentioned in the itinerary are tentative, but typical. The choices at each port are announced about December 2025 and you should sign up early. The Eclipse carries a helicopter and a submarine and these excursions are extra cost. Your suite (not just a stateroom or cabin) is luxurious with many fine amenities. Please refer to the brochure for additional details.

  • Importance of early booking: Cruises are incredibly popular and the small luxury ships are usually full many months before departure. Roland and Fraser Neave are friends with the President of Mayflower Cruises which is a division of Scenic Cruises, and have been able to secure a block of Verandah and Deluxe Verandah suites on Scenic Eclipse for this unique itinerary from Portland, Maine to Montréal. He has generously given us until December 2025 to sell these suites, then unused ones will be taken away. We urge you not to delay signing up for this tour and, until December 1, every suite reserved gets a $300 early booking bonus per person.

  • Rooms for singles: Only 8 single seats are available. Please book early if you prefer to travel single.

  • Shore excursions: are offered at each port with a choice of up to five trips, all complimentary. Sometimes an optional paid excursion is also offered. Excursions should be booked when they become available, usually eight months prior to the cruise. The popular shore excursions fill up early, so booking on board may not be feasible. Helicopter and submarine trips are extra cost. The shore excursions mentioned in the itinerary are tentative; the confirmed list should be available in December 2025.

  • Flight seating: We are unable to take requests for window or aisle seating on the planes. The airline will not accept them, as group seating is assigned as a block. If this is important to you, we suggest you take the “No Flight” option and book your own flights which allows seat selection. The fare reduction will be known in November 2025 as the flights cannot be booked until 11 months prior to the return date.

  • Flight upgrades: Please enquire about current prices for upgrades on the flights to Boston and from Montréal. Premium economy and business class may be available.

  • Flight delays or cancellations: In the event flights are delayed or cancelled by airlines due to weather or other reasons, there may be additional costs to you. Wells Gray Tours will not pay for hotel rooms and meals during the delay. Most travel insurance policies cover expenses incurred for flight delays.

  • Documentation: A passport is required and must be valid until you are home on September 25, 2026.

  • Payments: A deposit of $1,000 per person is requested at the time of booking and balance is due May 5, 2026. By paying the deposit, you agree to the Terms & Conditions, Activity Level and Cancellation Policy outlined. Payments can be made by online banking or cheque (3% discount on tour fare), or by Visa or Mastercard.

  • Food Allergies on cruises: You must notify us no later than at final payment if you have a food allergy. During the pre-cruise and post-cruise touring and the included shore excursions, some restaurants may not be able to satisfy all food allergies. An allergy causes medical distress, a preference does not. Most food allergies can be handled at meals on the yacht, but you may have to order 24 hours in advance. For some allergies, please consider bringing your own snacks or food items so you are not dependent on what restaurants are able to serve.

  • Early Booking Bonus: Receive a $300 per person discount for all reservations made until December 1, 2025. The discount is not offered after December 1, 2025.

  • Cancellation Policy: Up to April 2, 2026, the cancellation charge is $100 per person. From April 3 to May 5, the cancellation charge is $300 per person. From May 6 to June 5, the cancellation charge is 70% of the tour fare. From June 6 to July 3, the cancellation charge is 80% of the tour fare. After July 3, there is no refund.

  • Itinerary and Fare Changes: Our many suppliers may notify us about changes to the itinerary prior to departure and sometimes during the tour. We do our best to substitute a similar service if something cancels, but occasionally the only alternative is to provide a refund for the missed activity. Please note that if we are forced to cancel a tour component due to an issue beyond our control, the current penalties still apply if you choose to cancel the entire tour. Fuel surcharges and changes to taxes, currency exchange rates, or other tour costs can occur at any time, therefore Wells Gray Tours reserves the right to increase fares due to such changes up to departure.

  • Travel Insurance: A Comprehensive Insurance policy is available through Wells Gray Tours and coverage is provided by Travel Guard. Policies purchased at deposit include a waiver of the pre-existing condition clause for medical and cancellation claims, otherwise policies can be purchased no later than at final payment. Medical questionnaire is not needed. Please contact us for details. If you have your own travel insurance, please read the policy carefully to be sure that you are adequately covered for medical, cancellation, interruption, and luggage. Please do not travel to the USA without medical insurance as a minimum.
