2020 Staff Retreat

In early March, prior to the COVID-19 crisis consuming the entire world, our entire team gathered in Kamloops for our annual staff retreat.

We heard presentations from our internal departments, discussed industry trends, and planned our future tours for 2020, 2021, and beyond (there are some really exciting tours coming your way soon!) Our phenomenal Tour Directors had their own session focusing specifically on how we deliver our tours to you.

One major topic of conversation was our 50th Anniversary tour, coming up in May 2022. While we can’t tell you where we’re going yet, we can tell you that it will be a very unique experience. We’re hoping to release this tour in the fall, so stay tuned!

It wasn’t all work, as we had the opportunity to explore Kamloops where our first office opened in 1972. On Friday we enjoyed a heritage walking tour of Riverside Park and downtown Kamloops with Tara and Rob from ACT Adventures. One highlight of this tour was the amazing mural walk in the alley behind Victoria St. After our walk, we cheered the Kamloops Blazers to victory against the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Sandman Center. On Saturday our local knowledge was put to the test during a competitive scavenger hunt around town. Clues led us to various locations around town, including the Red Collar Brewery and the giant Rainbow Trout. We celebrated completing the hunt with dinner at Match Eatery & Public House.

We had a fantastic time reconnecting and planning your future adventures. In light of everything that has happened in the world and the travel industry since then, it also helped strengthen our bond as a team. We have needed to work together more than ever this week to keep our customers safe and informed.

Thank you to Tourism Kamloops and our local partners for hosting us!
